Severe Weather Alert in Effect until 11:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005

A severe weather alert has been issued by the National Weather Service as temperatures fall below freezing this evening... water on untreated roadways will freeze causing slippery spots.

University officials have instituted measures to ensure that events planned this Sunday should be able to take place as scheduled.

Grounds crews have been working to maintain accessibility in the areas where events are scheduled, including Shoemaker Hall where a variety a testing programs begin there at 8 a.m. Subsequent events are scheduled in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, and in Comcast Center.

If the weather causes any changes to the schedules for these events, information will be posted on our Web site, www.umd.edu, with links to the Web sites and information phone lines for event sponsors.
