Utility Companies Working Around the Clock

University officials are encouraged that local utility companies are working around the clock to restore power to many residents of the Baltimore-Washington area who lost service during Hurricane Isabel Thursday night.

Approximately 3000 University of Maryland students who are residents of the South Campus Commons, University Courtyard, and Old Leonardtown Apartment Communities as well as students who live in many of the University's fraternity and sorority houses were among those who were without power from Thursday night until Saturday afternoon (University Courtyard) or Monday morning (South Campus Commons, Old Leonardtown, Greek Houses).

We are aware that many people are still without power, however, including some students, faculty, and staff in the immediate vicinity of campus.

For more information, please check the Department of Resident Life Emergency Watch web site.
