UM Business School Dean to Step Down in 2008

Dear Colleagues:

Yesterday Dr. Howard Frank announced his intention to step down as dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business on June 30, 2008. At that time he will begin a sabbatical, and he will return to the Smith School as professor of management sciences in the fall of 2009.

Dean Frank has served the University with distinction since assuming the position in 1997. His visionary efforts helped transform the Business School at the University of Maryland into one of the very best. President Mote and I are grateful for his noteworthy contributions, and we wish him well in his new endeavors.

Nariman Farvardin
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
