Football Game and Parking Info

This week’s home football game, beginning at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, against Virginia Tech, will result in some parking modifications.

To accommodate fans, Dale Anderson, director of University Human Resources, has asked unit heads to grant administrative leave at 3:30 p.m. to nonexempt, exempt regular and contingent 2 employees whose duties can be delayed until the next day. Employees should check with their supervisors before taking leave.

Parking lots will open for fans at 4 p.m. After this, no one will be allowed on campus without a campus or football permit. There will be no game day cash parking anywhere on campus. Fans are encouraged to carpool and arrive between 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. Byrd Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Space will be held for all Terrapin Club fans with Lot Z, AA, 1b, 1d and SDG permits until kickoff. The Department of Transportation Services will make every effort to hold the assigned-numbered space; it cannot be guaranteed.

Lots 1, 4L, PP*, 9b, 9c, 11c, RDG will be used by students and staff before 3:30 p.m.

Campus permit holders planning to travel to campus should consider using Shuttle-UM Quick Bus. It can be taken from the College Park Metro Station to Lot Q, which is near Byrd Stadium. It runs every 20 minutes three hours prior to kick-off.

Quick Bus also runs back to the metro station from Lot Q for one hour after the game. Quick Bus is also available from Lots 4, 9 and 11 and Mowatt Lane Garage to Lot Q on a more limited schedule.

Parking on Route 193 (University Blvd.) will be allowed except on the median. Please use designated crosswalks to cross Route 193.

For more information, visit www.transportation.umd.edu, or listen to 1640-AM on game day.
