Parking Changes Accommodate Thursday Night Football Game

In order to accommodate both the university's academic programs and football fans attending the Maryland-Virginia game on Nov. 13, both the campus community and Terrapin fans are being asked to make adjustments to their normal parking routines.

The game, to be televised on ESPN, begins at 7:45 p.m. at Byrd Stadium. There is no general cancellation of classes so rush-hour traffic around the university is expected to be heavier than normal. Fans are encouraged to carpool or use Metro, which will remain open two hours later than normal. The Department of Transportation Services has notified all campus permit holders that will be directly affected by restricted access during the day.

Information on these changes can be viewed at http://www.transportation.umd.edu or call 301.314.PARK. Everyone should be prepared to follow the directions provided by parking personnel located in selected parking lots on game day. They will help direct vehicles to alternate parking areas.

Information on the best access routes to campus and the location and availability of fan parking can be viewed at the Athletic Department Web site http://www.umterps.com.

Fans are encouraged to arrive on campus between 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Tune to local radio traffic reports on game day for updates. For campus traffic advisory information tune to 1640 AM.
