Health Center does not have Flu Vaccine

The University Health Center has not received the flu vaccine this fall, and it is uncertain when vaccine will be available.  Unfortunately, an FYI notice was distributed earlier this week in anticipation of receiving the vaccine on October 11 as promised by the manufacturer.

The health center had ordered flu vaccine from Chiron Corporation, one of the two manufacturers of flu vaccine.  Chiron Corporation had its license to manufacture vaccine suspended by the British Government on October 5, and they will not release any vaccine.

All flu clinic appointments are canceled at this time. The CDC has issued guidelines for distributing the limited supply of vaccine that will be available.  If and when the University Health Center receives the vaccine, individuals who meet the CDC criteria will be notified.  Please check the University Health Center web site for updates.  We are sorry for this unexpected change.
