Major renovation of the Engineering Fields adjacent to the North Gate of Campus at U.S. Route 1 is underway, transforming a heavily used student recreation area into high quality playing fields suitable for club sports. A new rugby/soccer/multi-use field and a softball/ multi-use will be ready for spring play.
In the mean time, the presence of heavy construction activity is likely to add to the traffic congestion associated with the beginning of the fall semester. Campus Police will be stationed at the construction entrance to the field during high traffic hours to facilitate smooth traffic flow, but it may be prudent to avoid the area, if you can, during peak times.
The project is scheduled to coincide with the best time for installation of sod in November, with completion anticipated by mid-December, 2005.
The fields will be re-opened for activities in Spring 2006.
