In an effort to reduce the campus's significant energy costs, Vice
President for Administrative Affairs John Porcari has directed the immediate implementation of minimum indoor space temperature settings of
78 degrees during the summer. This change will affect all State and
auxiliary campus buildings with the exception of designated research and
library facilities.

Because the design of our buildings' heating and air conditioning
systems are varied, Facilities Management's approach to implementing
these energy conservation measures will also vary. Facilities Management will elevate
chilled water and air supply temperatures and turn off reheat systems
that normally function to provide comfortable temperature and humidity
levels.
As a result, spaces where reheats
are turned off may be cooler and more
humid early in the day, and temperatures and humidity will rise
throughout the day. Where supply air temperatures are increased, spaces
will be warmer all day. Additionally Facilities Management will be aggressively turning off
equipment not required on nights and weekends.
