Shirin Ebadi, the Iranian lawyer and human rights activist awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, will speak on "Islam, Democracy and Human Rights" at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The program is free and open to the general public, but tickets are required. To reserve tickets, contact Sapienza Barone at sbarone@umd.edu or 301.405.5790. (Email is preferred.) Tickets may also be picked up from the Stamp Student Union Ticket Office, or the President's Office (Room 1101, Main Administration Building), Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Ms. Ebadi's lecture is being sponsored by the university's School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the College of Arts and Humanities .
