At this time of giving thanks for our blessings in America, we are wrenched by the viciousness of the killings, injuries and kidnaping of innocent people in Mumbai. Our sincerest sympathies go out to the Indian community, to the victims of these attacks and to the many people in our University community who are affected by this brutality. We also join with India to resist, and bring to justice, these attackers.
This tragedy reminds us that we must rededicate ourselves to the principles of peace and humanity for all peoples. We must also stand together with the world and accept no justification for such indiscriminate attacks on innocents.
Let's extend our hands and hearts to all those in our Maryland family who have been personally affected by this barbarism.
