3. First-year Graduate Students Needed for a Study (Earn $10 for 40 minute interview)

Hello!

If you are still in College Park and meet below conditions, you can earn $10 by participating in our 40 minute interview on campus.

We are looking for:

* 4 male domestic (American) students
* 4 male students and 3 female students from countries other than China, India, and Korea
* Who are First-year Graduate Students (in master's or doctoral programs), and
* Who are NEW in College Park area in Summer/Fall 2014

If you meet ALL these conditions listed above and are interested, please send a brief email at jcoh@umd.edu

(Due to many participants from China, India, and Korea, we won't be able to do more interviews with students from these three countries.)

6. Holiday Fire Safety

It's fun to decorate for the winter holidays, but holiday decorations can increase your risk for a home fire. As you deck the halls this season, be fire smart:
. Inspect holiday lights each year for frayed wires, bare spots and excessive kinking or wear before putting them up.
. Consider using battery-operated flameless candles, which can look, smell and feel like real candles.
. If you do use lit candles, make sure they are in stable holders, and place them where they cannot be knocked down easily.

7. Alternative Breaks Fundraiser

Alternative Breaks (AB) coordinates substance-free, community service-learning trips during the university's winter, spring, and summer breaks. AB participants travel locally, nationally, and internationally in teams to engage in active service and gain new perspectives on social issues while meeting community needs and learning about and building upon community assets.

This Thursday December 18th Loony's will donate 10% of all FOOD purchases to the Alternative Breaks Bahamas service, focusing on environmental conservation and restoration.
