1. Recycling Volunteers Needed for First Home Football Game, 8/30

The UMD Recycling Team is seeking volunteers for the first home football game of the season vs. James Madison University, Saturday, August 30th at 3:30pm.

Volunteers are needed to greet attendees entering parking lots around campus, hand out bags for recycling and trash, and explain what to do with the bags when tailgating is finished.

Since the game begins at 3:30pm, volunteers will need to be on-site at 12:00pm (NOON).

Volunteers will be needed for other home football games this year as well.

2. Paid participants needed for a linguistic processing and social memory study!

Where: Biology - Psychology : 1227
Event Type(s): Other

Participants in this study will be asked to finish series of cognitive tasks, and then complete questionnaire in the lab. Participants will be paid $20 for the single session, which will last no longer than one hour.

Must be 18 years of age or older, and be a USA citizen. Come to Biopsychology building room 1227, and knock on the door at your scheduled time slot, to take part in the experiment. You can schedule a time slot by emailing the Culture Lab Manager at jjackso1@umd.edu.

6. Sustainability Fund and introducing Mini-Grants! More than $350,000 available!

The University Sustainability Council has approved two great opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to fund their sustainability projects:

1. Sustainability Fund - $350,000 available this year. The Fund is for projects requesting more than $1,000. Deadline for faculty and staff to apply: Oct 1. Deadline for students to apply: Jan 15.

2. Sustainability Mini-Grants - $2,500 available each semester. Projects can receive up to $1,000. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and funding decisions will be made within 30 days of receiving a complete application.
