1. Register for the Student Affairs Golf Tournament

When: Friday, June 19, 2015 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Where: University of Maryland Golf Course

Get together with colleagues for a day of fun away from the office at the Student Affairs Golf Tournament on Friday, June 19. The tournament is open to all; at least one player on each 4-person team must be affiliated with the University of Maryland, College Park.

If you need a player to complete a team or are a single player who would like to join a team, contact the golf course and we will assist you. As you construct your team, keep in mind that we encourage each team to be co-ed.

Registration and the driving range will open at 6:30am with announcements at 7:15 and a 7:30 shotgun. Lunch and awards will immediately follow the golf and are scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm.

2. Summertime Intramural Sports - Registration

Where: Engineering Fields
Event Type(s): Recreation

Registration for our first two summertime Intramural Sports activities begins this weekend. Sign up for Coed Softball and/or Small Sided (3v3) Soccer this Sunday beginning at 8am. Registration will continue through noon on Wednesday June 4. Games will be played Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays throughout summer session 1. There will be a 3-week "regular season" followed by a playoff tournament. All games are played on campus.

Summertime Intramural Sports are open to all faculty, staff, registered students, and those individuals with a CRS Membership.

4. Come Participate in a Brain & Language Experiment!

Where: Marie Mount : CNL EEG Lab : 3416

Are you a non-native speaker of English? Come participate in an experiment at the Cognitive Neuroscience of Language (CNL) Lab! Read sentences and answer questions while we record your brain's electrical activity (EEG) on your scalp.

Compensation: $10/hour, most studies last 2-3 hours.

Requirements: Minimal to no exposure to English before the age of 10 (meaning you did not begin hearing or speaking English on a regular basis prior to age 10, including English spoken outside of the US, as in Great Britain or India), became fluent in English after age 10, strictly right-handed, age 18-30, and hair style must allow the EEG cap to fit closely to the scalp.

5. UMD Summer Reading Program

Are you looking for an engaging and fun program that helps children become better readers and writers? Consider the UMD Summer Reading Program! Spaces are still available for children in grades 1-7. The program begins July 6 and meets Monday-Thursday from 8:45am-12:15pm. Teachers in the program are graduate students in Reading Education in the Department of Teaching & Learning, Policy & Leadership.
