Join Dr. Gloria Teckie today as she gives her personal account on being a physician in Soweto, South Africa.

About the speaker: Gloria Teckie is a specialist physician working in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has fellowships in Nephrology and Internal Medicine and an interest in Critical Care, and is affiliated with the University of the Witwatersrand. She currently practices medicine at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital that serves approximately six million people from Soweto and southern Johannesburg.

**A light lunch will be provided after the presentation.**

2. TAMIL SPEAKERS: Participants needed for study! ($10)

The Department of Linguistics of the University of Maryland is looking for Tamil speakers to participate in a study on the University of Maryland campus. You will be paid $10 for your participation and the study will take less than an hour. You will see or hear sounds, words, or sentences and answer questions about the language you see and hear.

You must:
1) be at least 18 years of age
2) be a fluent native speaker of Tamil
3) have no known hearing or neurological deficits
4) have not participated in this study already.

3. Help Reduce Incidents of Sexual Misconduct

Are you passionate about ending sexual assault and relationship violence? The Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life is offering a unique volunteer opportunity to be a facilitator for the Ten Man Plan/Ten Woman Plan. Facilitators will hold weekly meetings with representatives from a fraternity or sorority to discuss issues like sexual assault, alcohol, and hook up culture. Facilitators may be faculty/staff, graduate students, or other non-undergraduate affiliates of the University. Previous experience educating about sexual assault and relationship violence is preferred but not required. Evening meetings required.

5. Developing Thriving Organizations: Using Positive Psychology to Help Others Flourish

If you work collaboratively with and/or supervise students or other professional staff, this workshop is for you. Learn what research has shown to be most important in motivating people and cultivating a thriving and engaged organizational culture. This session will include an overview of some of the latest findings and applications from positive psychology and positive organizational scholarship, and provide opportunities to learn about, discuss, and practice proven methods for increasing engagement and wellbeing within an organization, team, or workplace. Participants will leave the session with resources and tools to use in their own organization(s).

6. Earn $12 for Participating in a Psychology Study!

The Interpersonal Relationships Lab is currently doing research on interracial relationships (platonic or romantic) between Black/African American and White/Caucasian individuals. The study involves completing a 60-minute lab session with a friend or romantic partner (one of you must be Black/African American and the other must be White/Caucasian).
