Participants will be able to share their own experiences. This is an excellent networking event for the peer tutoring/mentoring community. Professor Leisy Abrego (UCLA) will discuss her work on Salvadoran transnational migration and family separation in the context of the recent border crisis. Abrego is a member of the first large wave of Salvadoran immigrants who arrived in Los Angeles in the early 1980s and is a sociologist studying Central American immigration, Latina/o families, and the inequalities created by gender relations and by US immigration policies.
