OLLI UMD Presents Where Does Everything Come From?

When: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: 4321 Hartwick Bldg, suite 220
Event Type(s): Seminar

What is the source of energy powering the sun and other stars? Where did the elements come from? How about stars and galaxies? Amazingly, we can answer all of these questions with a detailed understanding of the nature of matter, interaction, and the expansion of the universe. But answers lead to more questions, which eventually lead us to the limits of understanding. Presented by Ted Jacobson, PhD, UMD physics professor. He has been teaching and pursuing research on gravitation theory since 1988. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and recipient of the University Distinguished Scholar-Teaching Award.
