The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet was founded in 1988 during the 35-year tenure of Berlin Philharmonic Music Director Herbert von Karajan. The quintet is the first permanently established wind quintet in the famous orchestra's history. This concert at the Center will include Mozart's Fantasy for mechanical organ, K.608 arranged for wind quintet by Michael Hasel; Joseph Bohuslav Foerster's Quintet in D major op. 95; and Kalevi Aho's Windquintet. UMD's Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet will join the ensemble in a performance of Gounod's Petite symphonie.
