The African American Studies Department at the University of Maryland will host a talk and panel discussion for "Advancing Health Through a Racial Lens." Our featured speaker, Professor Dorothy Roberts (Univ. of Pennsylvania), is the George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology and the Raymond Pace and Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander Professor of Civil Rights. After her talk, Professor Roberts will join a panel discussion featuring three distinguished University of Maryland professors that will discuss their research on African Americans and Health: Thurka Sangoramoorthy, Ph.D. MPH, is Assistant Professor of Anthropology; Mia Smith Bynum, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Family Science and Gniesha Y. Dinwiddie, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of African American Studies.
