On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email UMDevents@umd.edu.

The Pan African and Indigenous Language Initiative (PILI) is a student-based organization founded at the Nyumburu Cultural Center during the Fall semester of 2011. Formerly known as the African and Indigenous Language Program, the organization's name change reflects its evolution from an experiential linguistic endeavor, to a polished, progressive program whose scope goes beyond mere language acquisition. Specifically, the program seeks to combine language instruction with cultural and political education. The result, is a dynamic curriculum through which participants not only acquire an African or Pan African language, but also a new perspective.
PILI currently offers language instruction in three languages: Swahili, Haitian Creole and the Krio language of Sierra Leone/Pidgin English. For more information, please contact via email firstname.lastname@example.org
