Where: Plant Sciences : 1130
Event Type(s): Seminar

The PSLA Lecture Series, 11/20/13, hosts Dr. Senthil Subrmanian, Arizona State University, for the Maryland Soybean Board Seminar

Title: microRNA regulation of hormone action during soybean nodule development

Description: Biological nitrogen fixation in symbiotic nodules alleviates the use of chemical fertilizers and provides environmental and economic benefits. Through functional genomics approaches, we have identified microRNAs that regulate the levels and/or activity of auxin, cytokinin and gibberellin during nodule development in soybean. Results demonstrating the roles of miR160 in regulating auxin-cytokinin balance during nodule development as well as the potential role of miR169 in regulating cytokinin and gibberellin levels will be discussed.
