R&B and gospel legend Mavis Staples brings her smoldering voice to College Park in her Clarice Smith Center debut.

Staples' career began at a young age during the 1950s when her family's gospel-folk group, The Staple Singers, became a household name with hits such as "Respect Yourself" and "I'll Take You There." Their spiritual and political sound became a voice of the Civil Rights movement alongside Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Decades later, Staples' notable collaborations as a solo artist include Ray Charles, Natalie Merchant, Bob Dylan, Prince and Wilco.
