Where: Arboretum Outreach Center at the Apiary
Event Type(s): Forum

Here is your chance to hear about bees that are native to Maryland! Sam Droege works at the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center where his team is developing native bee survey techniques and monitoring programs for use by both professionals and citizen scientists. As part of that program they also develop identification tools and keys for native bee species. One aspect of crafting those tools is creating accurate and detailed pictures of native bees and the plants and insects they interact with. See a sample of their amazing photographs on their Flickr site: USGS Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab (http://www.flickr.com/photos/usgsbiml/).
