Dr. Barbara Rose Johnston in an anthropologist specializing in contemporary world issues! She is a recipient of the Lourdes Arizpe Award, presented by the American Anthropological Association's Anthropology & Environment Section, for her outstanding contributions in the application of anthropology to environmental issues and discourse. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Political Ecology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), and an affiliated member of the faculty at Michigan State University. Dr. Johnston explores the intersection of environment, health and human rights. Her research experience includes a major focus on the biomedical, psychosocial, cultural and environmental impacts of the U.S. nuclear weapons testing program, including the history and consequences of its classified human radiation experimentation program.
