Money available to replace your old refrigerator!

Event Type(s): Other

Round 1 of the Refrigerator Replacement Program was a huge success! More than 30 departments replaced their old, energy-inefficient refrigerators with new, high-efficiency units. The Office of Sustainability calculates that, so far, the Refrigerator Replacement Program will save 44,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which is equivalent to the annual electricity usage for four Maryland households!

We have a bit of grant money left so we are announcing Round 2 of this program. Any campus unit can apply for a rebate of $200-$350 to replace an old refrigerator with a new Energy Star or CEE rated refrigerator, or apply for an Energy Reduction Award of up to $400 for removing an old refrigerator without replacing it.

Funds are limited. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2013. Applications will be approved as they are received until all grant money is spent.
