On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The seminar will cover recent progress in Dr. Busov's laboratory in elucidation of the molecular mechanisms that regulate growth responses in a poplar tree, including root growth and development, regulation of secondary woody growth, and bud-break after winter dormancy.
Dr. Busov is interested in how trees regulate their growth and development. He obtained a Ph.D. in Genetics in 2001 from North Carolina State University; and is currently an associate professor at Michigan Technological University. His laboratory has produced 41 publications with 1,823 citations and attracted more than $6,000,000 of competitive funding.
