The Clarice Smith Center, in partnership with UMD's School of Public Policy and School of Public Health, is hosting a 2-day national symposium to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The symposium features activists Julian Bond and Marian Wright Edelman as well as cultural critic, Touré. Activists, artists, students, faith leaders and scholars will also share stories about the work being done locally and nationally through today's civil rights movements.
