On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email UMDevents@umd.edu.

New tools available in the NanoOptics lab -- and the vast research questions they could help investigate -- will be the focus of a talk on nanoscale measurements and evaluation. Dr. Vildana Hodzic, the lab's director, will present an overview of the equipment's capabilities and of recent research.
Dr. Hodzic will discuss opportunities, challenges, and frontiers of nanoscale measurements using instruments such as the Ntegra Spectra, which combines the full power of scanning probe microscopy, confocal Raman and fluorescence microscopy and scanning near-field optical microscopy in one platform.
