Your head is part of your body, right? So, why not give your mental health the same care and upkeep that you give the rest of your body? Make a list of things that help you to deal with the normal ups and downs in life, and take advantage of these things on a regular basis. Exercise your positive outlook by putting things in perspective. Feed your need for emotional support by spending time with friends. And when you really don't feel emotionally well, remember that seeking help is a sign of strength. Choose to reach out to a mental health professional either on (www.counseling.umd.edu or www.health.umd.edu) or off campus.
When issues start to become more serious, do not hesitate to reach out for professional care. Reaching out is a sign of strength, and taking care of your mental health is an integral part of wellness.
