On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email UMDevents@umd.edu.

Join the University Libraries in welcoming Dr. Valerii Pavlovich Leonov to campus, where he will participate in a series of events (Apr 2 - 4) pertaining to Russia, scholarship and libraries.
Now director of the Russian Academy of Sciences Library, Dr. Leonov studied at the University of Maryland in the midst of the Cold War. As the only librarian sponsored by the IREX exchange program, an international effort to promote positive change, he credits this formative experience (1973-1974) as one that enriched his career and expanded his view of libraries.
First event on Tuesday, Apr 2. See website for event details.
