Aaron O'Connell is Assistant Professor of History at the U.S. Naval Academy. He has published multiple articles on the militarization of American society, including in the New York Times and the Journal of Naval History. His work explores various narratives told by and about the U.S. military in the 20th century and crosses over into the fields of international history and globalization studies, history of memory and trauma, and civil-military relations. Prof. O'Connell is this year's Miller Center Distinguished Lecturer and will be presenting a talk titled, "The United States Marine Corps in America and in the World."
