Guest Speaker: Dr. Kristin Mercer, Ohio State University
Seminar Title: "Evolutionary Ecology in Crop-wild Hybrid Zones"
Dr. Kristin Mercer is an assistant professor in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at the Ohio State University. Her research program focuses on plant evolutionary ecology within agricultural systems. In general, Dr. Mercer takes an evolutionary perspective on problems facing agriculture, such as the conservation and use of crop genetic diversity in an era of climate change and risk assessment for genetically modified crops. She also engages with social scientists to explore the biological and human dimensions of these problems.
