Mechanical Engineering Seminar Friday!: Promoting Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings Using Natural Ventilation

When: Friday, April 26, 2013 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: 2164 Martin Hall
Event Type(s): Seminar

"Promoting Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings Using Natural Ventilation"
Presented by: Dr. Leon R. Glicksman (MIT)

Abstract:
Mechanical cooling usage is rising in many parts of the world, leading to increases in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Glicksman will Cool Vent, a design tool based on computational fluid dynamics simulations and building data. He will also present initial results of its use in a central Tokyo office building.

Bio:
Dr. Leon R. Glicksman is a Professor of Building Technology and Mechanical Engineering at MIT. He obtained his bachelor's and doctorate degrees at MIT, and his master's degree at Stanford.
