On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. "The Chilly Climate for Women: Subtle Bias in Classrooms and What We Can Do About It"

Bernice R. Sandler, PhD, Senior Scholar from the Women's Research and Education Institute in Washington, D.C. and "godmother of Title IX" speaks on the subtle ways in which women students and faculty are often inadvertently treated differently, and what can be done about it.

Dr. Sandler is well-known for her expertise in women's educational equity in general as well as in sexual harassment, the chilly classroom climate, and her knowledge of policies, programs and strategies concerning women on campus.
