On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. ENERGY AND MOTION, including center of mass, Newton's laws, and energy. Physics demonstrations are used to discuss the topics in a qualitative way at the level of an interested high school student. Program has two parts: from 7:00 to 7:30 hands on demonstrations are guided by student volunteers; from 7:30 to 8:45 there will be a formal lecture demonstration. Event will be repeated at the same time and place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.
