On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The University of Maryland School of Public Policy is proud to announce that award-winning world journalist Robin Wright will be the Spring 2013 Saul I. Stern Professorship of Civic Engagement speaker. Wright, a fellow at the U.S. Institute for Peace and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, has won numerous awards for her coverage of international conflicts, including the American Academy of Diplomacy's Journalist of the Year Award and the Overseas Press Club award for best reporting in any medium requiring exceptional courage and initiative. Wright's speech, "Rock the Casbah: The Middle East Uprisings," will build on her recent book of the same title. The event is co-sponsored by the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM) and the ADVANCE Program for Inclusive Excellence.
