Greeting people is a small gesture that makes a big difference. When walking into the office or passing a familiar face in the hallway, saying "Good Morning" or "Hello" is the basic ingredient of building a community at Maryland. Though it seems obvious, we often walk by people we see regularly without saying a word. Perhaps we do not wish to intrude, interrupt, or we feel awkward. Regardless of the reason, a greeting conveys respect and kindness' more is always better. Most people will respond with a warm greeting in return.
