On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. Bangladeshis celebrate Ekushey February (February 21st) as International Mother Language Day to commemorate the struggles in preserving the Bengali language.
This United Nations recognized holiday celebrates the variety of cultures around the world and it's multitude of dialects. An authentic Bangladeshi dinner will be served and TED Talk Speaker Samier Mansur will be attending. His speech on September 12th, 2012 in Dhaka, Bangladesh advocated the Bangladesh Pluralism Project, promoting multiculturalism in Asia and it's neighbors. He will delve further into this matter on a more intimate level among attendees.
