"Becoming Interdisciplinary: Making Citizens and Innovating Research"
Prof. Jamie Cohen-Cole, American Studies, George Washington University
In the 1950s, interdisciplinarity signaled an open-minded, creative and practical orientation. The label communicated a vision of self, society and politics that was useful and modern. This was true in the social sciences, which this paper and presentation will discuss. The paper under discussion is an extract from the book project, The Open Mind: Cold War Politics and the Sciences of Human Nature.
