The School of Public Policy's Tuesday Policy Forum will feature Madiha Afzal, Assistant Professor of International Development at the Maryland School of Public Policy. Her current work examines the determinants of support for militancy and terrorism in Pakistan, with a particular focus on the effect of education and gender on radicalization. Her other areas of research focus on elections in Pakistan and on Pakistanis' views of the United States. Afzal has also been a Consultant at the World Bank, is currently a Non-Resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution, as well as a Research Fellow at CISSM and at the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan. Afzal mainly grew up in Lahore, Pakistan, where her parents, who are senior members of Pakistan's civil bureaucracy, still live. Afzal has written for The Express Tribune and Foreign Policy on girls' education and terrorism in Pakistan.
