On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email

Looking for Chinese learners for paid reading test

We are looking for interested people who are Chinese learners and speaking English as mother tongue to participate a Chinese reading research project. The project will involve these tasks: filling out a short questionnaire, doing a judgment test on a computer that allows you to read at your own speed, and learning vocabulary that will appear in the test. You will be paid 5 dollars for participating in the study, and extra will be rewarded based on your performance on the test (maximum 5 dollars). If you are interested, please send an email to
