On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email UMDevents@umd.edu.

"What It Is, What It Was: Music Video As Art" Exhibition Reception

When: Thursday, December 06, 2012 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Where: Art-Sociology : The Art Gallery (TAG) : 2202
Event Type(s): Art Exhibition

The Art Gallery (TAG) invites you to a reception for "What It Is, What It Was: Music Video As Art." The exhibition explores the capacity of the music video, a popular and commercial form since the 1980s, to transcend and transform the limits of the genre - repetitiveness, visual eye candy, and the primacy of the singer performing their latest hit single - and to make a short film that traffics in the melodic, rhythmic, and lyrical structures of a song while extending the experience of the viewer beyond the song and into a world-not-yet-seen. Refreshments will be served; cash bar.
