On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. Continuing on the great work accomplished last year, this session will update you on the ADVANCE program, discuss ways of moving forward, and provide an opportunity to network with colleagues across the college.
Dean Bonnie Thornton Dill, History Department Chair Philip Soergel, and ADVANCE Co-PI Professor KerryAnn O'Meara (EDUC) will attend the session, as well as ADVANCE Professor Julie Greene (HIST)and ADVANCE Professor Lynn Bolles (WMST). Ways of improving the work environment in ARHU will be discussed, thus building on the impressive survey carried out by the ADVANCE team - which showed important differences between ARHU and other colleges in terms of job satisfaction, work-life balance issues, and diversity. Learn about the Dashboard Project, which provides vital data related to faculty diversity, salary and years to promotion. All are welcome, and lunch will be served.
