On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The Shanghai Quartet melds the delicacy of Eastern music with the emotional breadth of Western repertoire, allowing it to traverse musical genres from masterpieces of Western music to cutting-edge contemporary works. Their program at the Center will include Schubert's Quartettsatz, Bartok's Quartet #4, Beethoven's String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, Op. 132 and selections from ChinaSong, a suite of Chinese folk songs arranged for string quartet by the Shanghai Quartet's violinist Yi-Wen Jiang.
