On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. "Colonial Intersections: Reconsidering the Historical, Literary, and Visual Archives" will bring together historians, literary critics and art historians specializing in colonial Latin America to present their ongoing projects and reflect on the extent to which colonial studies dealing with the larger Iberian-American world have been transformed in the last twenty years. The conference will also include a round table on teaching colonial studies and interdisciplinarity.
The symposium is open to the public and will take place in College Park and in Washington, DC, at the Mexican Cultural Institute and the Library of Congress.
