The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is a new campus within a large and established system. It was founded in November 2006. In Fall 2009, the first four-year undergraduate degree program, the B.S. in Health Sciences, was established. This was followed in Fall 2011 with a joint degree program with Mayo Clinic. Common to all degree programs at UMR is the emphasis on integration across disciplines, implementation of learning theory into the classroom, and strong involvement of the community. In the seminar Claudia will share her experiences of building interdisciplinary academic programs at UMR in a rapidly changing environment.
