On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. This year's Shorb Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Vadim Galdyshev and is scheduled for Thursday, May 10th. Vadim is currently the Head of the Center for Redox Medicine at Harvard Medical School (http://gladyshevlab.bwh.harvard.edu/). His research focuses on the role of the trace element Selenium and redox biology as applied to cancer, aging, and reproduction.
A reception for Dr. Gladyshev will be held at 3:00 PM in the Animal Sciences Lobby (bldg 49) with light refreshments followed by the Shorb Lecture at 3:45 PM on May 10, 2012 in Animal Sciences Bldg 0408 lecture hall.
