On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the University of Maryland will launch a new university calendar that will streamline and replace the FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD calendars. Beginning Sept. 8, you will be able to submit your events to the new campus calendar for review and approval, much like the current process for FYI and Free Stuff @ UMD. On Sept. 8, if you visit this website, you will automatically be redirected to the new calendar. In addition, a new weekly email called UMD This Week will launch on Sept. 8, replacing the daily FYI email. UMD This Week will be delivered at the beginning of every week and will highlight top upcoming events. The email will include details on how to access the new calendar and how to submit events for approval. Questions? Email UMDevents@umd.edu.
The FYI Listserv is a way to share campus information through email with other faculty and staff of the University of Maryland. FYI is appropriate for announcements of special University of Maryland campus programs and activities of general interest to institutional faculty and staff.
FYI is sent only to faculty, staff, and graduate assistants. Events intended primarily for students will not be listed unless also of interest to the general community.
Events must be sponsored or co-sponsored by a University of Maryland unit or organization. Externally-sponsored events, even those occurring on campus, will not be listed.
Events must be located on the University of Maryland campus or in the immediate area.
Announcements for courses will not be listed.
Events should be special or unique events; announcements of regular club meetings will not be listed.
One announcement will be posted per event.
It is recommended that events be submitted at least two days before the desired posting date.
FYI reviewers reserve the right to edit any submissions for content and form.
Submissions will only be accepted through the web-based form.
