Dr. Cordell Black, Associate Provost for Equity and Diversity
Dr. Cordell Black
  • Holds a Ph.D. in 17th Century French Literature from the University of Michigan. He is a tenured Associate Professor of 17th Century French Literature.

Positions Held
  • Served as Interim Chairman of the French and Italian Department.
  • Served as Assistant Dean in Arts and Humanities for two years.
  • Served as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for seven years.
  • Since 1999, has been Associate Provost for Equity and Diversity.

  2. Paul Robeson Outstanding Scholar Award
  3. The Drum Major of Excellence Award, Black Ministries Program
  4. Award of Excellence, Black Faculty and Staff Association

  6. Labor of Love Award, Nyumburu Cultural Center

Author of one book, many speeches, and several essays. Frequently invited as featured/keynote speaker on and off campus.
