Do you like working with kids? America Reads*America Counts (ARAC), part of Community Service-Learning, is a partnership between the University of Maryland and Prince George's County Public Schools. ARAC strives to provide high quality mentoring in local schools that enriches learning opportunities for both college and elementary school students. Federal Work Study mentor positions (starting at $10/hour), Volunteer, Intern, and Academic Credit opportunities are all available. Mentors are matched with children in a Prince George's County elementary schools and tutor 3-10 hours per week for a semester or more. Mentors receive excellent training in tutoring, leadership and community service-learning and have the opportunity to connect with other students who share their interests.
