Academic Affairs1119 Main Administration Building301-405-5252 Nariman Farvardin, Senior Vice President and Provost www.provost.umd.edu The Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost is the chief academic officer of the university with responsibility for guiding the academic development and direction of the institution in accordance with the university's mission; ensuring that our programs and faculty are of the highest caliber; supporting the diversity of our students, faculty, and staff as a special strength; and promoting academic excellence across the university. The deans of the 13 colleges and schools at the University report directly to him as do the deans for undergraduate studies, the graduate school, and professional studies, the dean of the libraries and the chief information officer. The senior vice president and provost oversees the development, review, and implementation of all academic policies and regulations; consults closely with the University Senate and other faculty advisory groups on academic programs and policies; and serves as liaison with other university divisions in strategic and long-range planning. |
