On November 19, 2012, President Wallace Loh announced that the University of Maryland will be joining the Big Ten Conference, effective with the 2014-15 academic year. In addition to athletic competition in all sports, UMD will also be joining the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), a consortium of Big Ten institutions that collaborate on research projects, offer educational opportunities for students and share resources in areas such as purchasing and libraries.

To ensure a smooth integration into the Big Ten/CIC, President Loh formed the 'Commission on Big Ten/CIC Integration'. This Commission will provide recommendations on how to maximize the opportunities and benefits for UMD.

This special Big Ten/CIC Integration website is provided to keep the UMD community informed about the transition to the Big Ten/CIC.

Links to updated news clips, announcements, information about the Big Ten and the CIC, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are provided.

We welcome input from the community on this transition, and have provided a comment/question submission form as well. All questions and comments will be read and answered.
